The Most Common Mistakes Artists Make
Gavin Glakas Spills Everything!

An instructor like no other! Experience his instruction in GLOW!
Dear Artist,

Gavin Glakas is amazing at what he does…

…but we wanted to know even MORE — so we made him share everything with us.

Here's what he told us:
"Like so many other artists I've spoken to who 'learned' to draw and paint in the '90s or earlier, I was frustrated (and bewildered) by the lack of actual instruction — how to draw, how to understand color, how to control value, how edges affect our perception, how to create dynamic compositions…

"When I encountered instructors who taught art in a direct, logical way — the way one would teach a language or how to play an instrument — it changed my life."
We asked him what most artists are doing wrong:
"Most artists don't know what they're trying to do, other than reproduce what's in front of them. I help artists translate the infinite complexities of real life into basic steps with paint — composition first, then accurate drawing, then shapes of light and shadow, then vibrant colors.

"With each step, I'll help students see the potential choices and opportunities they have to play and create.

"For students with any amount of experience, my teaching approach emphasizes logical problem-solving and an understanding of the artistic elements of drawing, value, color, edges, composition, and so much more. The point is for students to ultimately make creative, intuitive decisions on top of a foundation of knowledge.

"So many instructors focus on the philosophy of creativity rather than logic, reason, and problem-solving — understanding why the world looks as it does and how to suggest that with paint or charcoal.

"Students who learn in this atmosphere tend to either repeat their teacher's 'party tricks' without knowing why they work or simply fumble around in a clumsy attempt at trial-and-error.

"They don't know why their successes work and their failures don't — and ultimately wind up very frustrated."
The reason many of Gavin's students have become highly accomplished artists themselves is because he's adamant in teaching the RIGHT way.

No nonsense.

No vague philosophies or obscure ideas.

Just direct and logical guidance through the complexities of color, light, and texture.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"[Gavin] has a logical approach to drawing and painting that meshes with the way I best understand concepts.

"This approach, together with his encouragement, enthusiasm, and positivity, instills great confidence in me that my painting and drawing will continue to improve."

— Michael M.
