Baton Rouge Plein Air hosts "Painting History: One Stroke at a Time, A Plein Air Event"


Baton Rouge Plein Air (BRPA), collaborating with Beauregard Gallery and Bistro*, hosted a two-day plein air event this season, focused on historic Beauregard Town, established in 1806.


Twenty-two artists from across southern Louisiana participated in the event, "Painting History: One Stroke at a Time," and concluded it with a social and wet wall exhibition of works.

Organized in 2017, BRPA paints together every Thursday morning throughout Baton Rouge and the surrounding area. With 300+ weekly paintouts over the last six years, artists of all skill levels gather to paint and share critiques.


"Painting History: One Stroke at a Time" artists included Nanci Charpentier, Dana Mosby, Madhuri Yadlapati, DeeDee Wilbert, Gary Green, Sarah Burnette, David Boucher, Lorraine Sauls, David Gary, Katherine Daigle, Robn Cook, Ellen Jenkins, Carol Hackler, Jennifer Carwile, Oksana Fogg, Sabrina Schmidt, Marge Shanks, Roderick Murchison, Marylyn Daniel, Adrianna Speer, Marilyn Gensler, and Laura Martin.

*Beauregard Gallery and Bistro, the first restaurant in the city to install fine art exhibitions by many prominent artists, began as C.C. Fish Market in 1932 and remains family-owned today.
