Dear Artists,
As Thanksgiving approaches, I find myself reflecting on the countless blessings in my life — and especially in my artistic endeavors. This season, I want to share a message of gratitude, not just for our successes, but for every brushstroke of our journey — even the missteps and failures.
I often tell new painters to celebrate their worst paintings. Why? Because true learning often happens outside our comfort zones, in the realm where mistakes are made. In our art, it's the imperfect lines, the unexpected color blends, and the compositions that didn't turn out as planned, that teach us the most.
This Thanksgiving, let's be grateful for these moments. Each failure is yet another stepping stone towards mastery, a unique story etched into our journey. These experiences, as challenging as they may be, are what mold us into better, more resilient artists. They remind us that progress, not perfection, is what truly matters.
I urge you to look back at your early works. Notice how far you've come. Maybe the progress is subtle, maybe it's significant — but it's there. Every piece you've created is a testament to your perseverance, your courage to keep creating despite the odds. For that, give yourself a pat on the back. Be proud of it.
Today I am especially grateful for you. Our art community, closest friends, family, and even our critics, all play a pivotal role in our growth. They provide support, feedback, and sometimes, the much-needed reality check to keep improving.
I encourage you to keep dreaming, keep creating, and keep embracing every part of your artist journey with gratitude. Your artistic dreams are valid and worth pursuing — and every step you take toward them is another reason to be thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Warm regards,
