It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Utah-born, California-based artist Nancy Seamons Crookston, born on November 23, 1948, and departing from us just eight days after shoulder surgery and six days before her 75th birthday. A vibrant soul, Nancy's life was tragically cut short by a postoperative blood clot, leaving us in shock and devastation.

Nancy possessed a genuine love for connecting with others, learning from their experiences, and sharing in the joys and challenges of life.

She created groundbreaking art for over 50 years. She was a Master Oil Painter of America, an active member in the California Art Club, and has received many awards throughout her prolific and influential career.

Nancy learned from the late Ukrainian-born colorist Sergei Bongart during the 70s and 80s, and attended his summer workshops in Rexburg, Idaho.

She painted mostly in oils and watercolors, and sketching was part of her daily routine.

She could be seen around Alameda lugging her brown leather backpack stuffed with pens, pencils, and sketch pads wherever she went. One of her favorite things to do was settle in at a breakfast diner for a round of sketching.
